Pivotal Minds ASD Treatment Centre was established to offer effective and affordable treatment options to children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. Lead PRT Therapist
Dr. Cellupica is a community-based pediatrician with a special interest in developmental and behavioural pediatrics. He works as part of a team that provides diagnostic assessments to diagnose or rule out ASD in children. Dr. Cellupica completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Toronto, and he received his MD from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. He completed his training in Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Cellupica served on the Board of Directors of The Canadian Pediatric Society and he has served on expert panels for the Government of Ontario, as well as other provincial and federal organizations.
Daniella ensures that our centre maintains the exceptional standards outlined in our vision statement, our values and mission statement. Her focus is on developing and maintaining a responsive, service-oriented organization that meet your family's needs. Daniella oversees the PRT Program and provides compassionate guidance to families throughout their involvement in our centre. She brings a wealth of knowledge and kindness and patience to all of her encounters with clients.
Dr. Friedman is a pediatrician practicing in pediatric neurology. Dr. Friedman obtained his medical degree from the University of Ottawa Medical School. He did his pediatric residency and pursued additional training in pediatric neurology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He is a Lecturer, at the University of Toronto Medical School. Dr. Friedman is the former Medical Director of the Woman & Child Program and Chief of Pediatrics at Mackenzie Health Hospital.
Dr. Friedman works as part of a team that provides diagnostic assessments to diagnose or rule out ASD in children.. He is the Principal Investigator in Toronto for an international research study examining the role of the immune system as a potential cause of Autism.
Sharon is the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director and the Medical Director. She also serves as our Services Coordinator, helping families access community-based services, and various funding opportunities available to some families whose children have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Sharon approaches her job with warmth and empathy, and she is committed to helping families navigate the often confusing world of autism services.
John has worked enthusiastically in the field of special needs for more than 6 years. He began his career with the Meta Centre, where he was a Program Instructor working directly with children, youth and adults with an array of developmental disabilities. During this time, John also completed an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Diploma in General Arts and Science, from the University of Guelph-Humber. John continues to expand his education and he has received certification in Pivotal Response Therapy from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Through his work experience and his studies, John has discovered his vocation and passion for working with children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. John brings a unique blend of compassion, warmth and playfulness to his therapy.
Jaimie has a background as a physiotherapist. She became interested in learning about ASD and PRT when her child was diagnosed with ASD. Jaimie completed a Bachelor of Physical Education and Health and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy, both from the University of Toronto. Jaimie continues to upgrade her knowledge and skills by completing courses in PRT as well as other paediatric courses including sensory integration and self-regulation. Additionally, she practices PRT daily at home with her children.
Lukasz has been working with children with ASD for approximately 3 years. After completing a B.A. Hons. Psychology at York University, he went to Seneca for Autism and Behavioural Sciences. He has worked with over 30 children on the spectrum ranging from mild to severe diagnosis with an age ranging from 2-16 years. For the past 2 years he has been instructing social skills to improve one of the main fundamental deficits in ASD. Lukasz is a passionate, hardworking individual who strives to make great functional gains with every child he works with. He is easy going and approachable and kids love to have fun with him. Certified in PRT he hopes to improve the lives of the families he works with in a fun, meaningful way that will improve the pivotal areas of development for your child.
Nicola has 15 years of expertise in paediatric feeding and swallowing disorders. She provides support to families who are having difficulty feeding their babies and children. Nicola has provided paediatric (ranging from 0-18) feeding and swallowing assessment and treatment in acute hospital settings, schools, daycares, feeding clinics, and homes servicing children with a variety of diagnoses. Nicola also works as a Clinical Educator and Mentor and has developed extensive workshops, learning modules and written resources to provide education in this specialized area of practice.
Glynnis DuBois is a Registered Nurse, Speech-Language Pathologist and Board Certified Lactation Consultant. As a feeding therapist, she specializes in infants and young children with feeding challenges. She also provides Auditory Skills Therapy for children with hearing loss and speech and language therapy for preschool and school aged children. She has had the privilege of working with children and their families for over thirty-five years.
