Pivotal Response Treatment    has been developed by Drs. Robert and Lynn Koegel who now reside at Stanford University.

PRT is a behavioural treatment intervention based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).  It is a naturalistic approach, targeted for pre-school aged children.  PRT's core design is based on a series of studies identifying important "pivotal" treatment components that affect a wide range of behaviours.  There are four pivotal areas that are studied:

Studies have shown that PRT is an incredibly effective and successful intervention program for children diagnosed with ASD.

What makes PRT so incredibly unique is that treatment is a collaborative effort between therapist (if applicable), caregivers and children.

SMALL GROUPS

Small group sizes allows for an interactive class.  As this class is taught with a live instructor, question asking is encouraged.  Specific issues may be discussed regarding your child in order to give you the appropriate strategies.  We also perform small roll playing exercises to practice what you've learned.

An online course (preprogrammed) coming soon.  The benefit of registering for the online program is the ability to complete the five weeks in your own time.

POSITIVE ENCOURAGEMENT

Everything in PRT is executed in a positive fashion.  Your child will have fun as we use their own motivation.  For example, if your child loves to play with cars, we will ensure you use the toy cars to evoke language.  Even if your child is having a meltdown, we will encourage your child in a positive way.  It is imperative to create an atmosphere where your child feels loved, supported and cared for.  This inadvertently teaches caregivers the patience required to administer strategies outlined in this program.

OUR APPROACH

We us Pivotal Response Treatment in every program we create.  PRT is a naturalistic and positive approach that follows a child's lead, often showing gains and success in short periods of time. Our instructors are certified Instructor Therapists and understand the unique complexities that each child brings (even in those anxious or overstimulated moments).  Our intake process helps us to ensure that your child's needs are met.
