WHAT IS OUR READY SPAGHETTI SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAM ABOUT?
The Ready Spaghetti School Readiness Program has been created to enrich the lives of your little ones (aged 3 - 5 years). Using Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), we will teach those all important life skills; language development, emotional literacy and social interaction. These skills will be fostered through fun and accessible activities in a naturalistic and positive group environment. We put a lot of love into this program to better prepare your child for school and have the most robust curriculum that has taken years to create.
This stellar program prepares your child for the FDK curriculum in school. PRT encompasses ABA principles which means your child will work on many milestones throughout their school readiness journey. We like to go that extra mile! We have guidelines and homework (don't worry, it's not difficult) for parents to ensure this big transition in your child's life goes smoothly. Our classes are taught by Instructor Therapists and supervised by BCBA(s).
Although Pivotal Minds is an ASD Treatment Centre, this program is open to anyone. As PRT is an ABA evidence-based treatment, supporting children with language delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder or anyone seeking positive reinforcements/experiences for their children.
Our class sizes are small intentionally, so that we may work on making your child comfortable with transitions, social interactions, being a part of a group, and anything they need extra assistance on.
PRT’s main focus is on the following:
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THIS PROGRAM?
Your child will receive personal attention throughout the program. This starts at our intake process; highlighting your child's abilities will help us to create a meaningful class experience.
Our PRT Certified Instructor Therapists provide ABA therapy to families on a regular basis. They are compassionate, fun and most importantly qualified to hold a fun and safe space for your child.
We create our program using positive PRT strategies that will motivate your child using their unique skills to learn and have fun!
WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF THE READY SPAGHETTI SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAM?
The transition into school represents a major milestone in a child's life. Our program aims to better identify the skills and abilities that contribute to school readiness and to understand the role of parents as well as the best practices for fostering an appropriate transition and school success. Some of the skills we focus on (but not limited to); are: social/emotional development, language and literacy, cognition & general knowledge, physical development, etc.
Small group sizes allow our students to feel at ease, feel part of a community and build a sense of belonging. By keeping our programs smaller, we are able to work on things such as transitioning, dealing with conflict, coach self-management, etc. We will look at any special needs your child has upon enrolment.
Our programs are non-competitive. Although we may play games with teams, we focus on participation and having fun! Fostering a positive environment is important to encouraging children to join in rather than focusing on winning or losing. We learn from mistakes and how to be part of a fun group!
We use Pivotal Response Treatment in every program we create. PRT is a naturalistic and positive approach that follows a child's lead, often showing gains and success in short periods of time. Our "teachers" are certified Instructor Therapists and understand the unique complexities that each child brings (even in those anxious or overstimulated moments).
Our mornings together will be filled with fun group activities, physical play, crafts literacy programming, etc. Our activities promote social interaction and motivate children to demonstrate their very own unique skills so that everyone can shine!
Self-Regulation and well-being focus.
Your child will learn how to cope and develop skills on how to express their needs when you're not there.
Self-help, fine motor and gross motor skills will be worked on throughout the morning. Fun games and activities will encourage these skills in an inviting group enviornment.
